Unitarian Universalism is a religion with Christian roots, informed by wisdom from all the world’s religions, as well as the sciences, arts, literature and the human experience. The Participatory Nativity is not a pageant, it’s a more spontaneous “tableau” that forms as the story (from the gospels of Luke and Matthew in the Christian Bible) is read. As Rev. Suzelle Lynch said in a homily that day, the Nativity story marks a time in human religious history when people shifted from believing that “God’s power” was far away, and inaccessible, to believing that the highest and holiest energy available was in the human sphere, “god with us, and within us.” |
