MULTIGENERATIONAL CHOIRThe Multigenerational Choir is open to all singers, ages 5 to 125. Fun for families, empty nesters, kids, and pretty much everybody! This group is directed by our Choir Accompanist, Kristin Collom. The Multigenerational Choir will sing familiar holiday favorites at our annual Holiday Music Service.
THANKSGIVING TAIZÉ SINGERSOur November WoW (Worship on Wednesday) will be on the theme of Thanksgiving in the style of Taizé, an ecumenical chant practice established by the Taizé monastic order in France in the last century. Taizé invokes a deep meditation through the repetition of simple musical chants. The entire congregation sings the chants, but we are looking for a small choral group who can learn the chants ahead of time to facilitate ease of learning during the worship service.
WINTER SOLSTICE SINGERSThe December WoW (Worship on Wednesday) will be our annual joyous, raucous, awesome celebration of the Winter Solstice. The Solstice Singers participate in this earth-based ritual service by singing simple rounds and songs and leading congregational singing.
CHRISTMAS CHOIRThe Christmas Choir sings traditional and new four-part Christmas carols at the 4:30 Christmas Eve service. Individuals participating in the Christmas choir should have proficiency in reading music.
UUCW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAThe UUCW Symphony Orchestra is open to all woodwind, string, brass, and percussion players who are members or friends of UUCW -- students, hobbyists, and professionals alike. The orchestra will play at the 8:00pm Christmas Eve service.
ADULT CHOIRIf you are interested in singing on a regular basis, consider joining the adult choir. The adult choir performs beautiful music encompassing a variety of styles from classical to gospel and folk to jazz. Singers of all abilities are welcome! The ability to read music is not a prerequisite. Just ask a choir member how much this avtivity means to them and you will get a sense of the amazing ministry you can experiance as a part of this group. Membership is open to all people high school age and older. The Adult Choir will headline the 50th Anniverary Gala Concert in April 2012 with the Midwest premiere of composer Tobin Stokes' large-scall 2011 work based on UU theology, Missa Brevis pro Serveto complete with orchestra!
